Meet Baz: one sentence in, a whole trip out
Baz is the Wendways AI travel assistant. Tell it where, when, and who's coming, and it builds the trip. Here's what it does, what it doesn't, and what it sees.
Planning a trip is a puzzle: which places fit together, in what order, in how many days. Baz gives you a first draft, so you’re editing instead of starting from a blank page.
Baz is the Wendways AI travel assistant, and it’s on every plan, including the free one. It helps most with Want and Planning, and your lifetime record carries on as it always has. Baz is also the Wendways mascot, a bar-tailed godwit, which holds the record for the longest non-stop flight of any bird.
Just describe it
On the Trips page, write a few lines:
5 days in Kansai in March, two of us, a day in Nara.
Baz creates the trip: the dates, how many are traveling, where each day is based, any bookings you mention, and a few first picks. Keep the ones you like and remove the rest.
Ask from anywhere
An Ask Baz button sits at the bottom of every page, with the shortcut ⌘J (Ctrl+J on Windows). Open it on a trip or on a single day, and it works on that trip or day.
Ask for dinner near tomorrow’s museum, a quiet morning, or something for a free afternoon. Baz shows place cards, and you choose what goes on the trip. “More like this” asks for similar picks.
Real places, and plans that stay yours
Every place is checked on the map before you see it, so Baz suggests places that exist. Anything Baz adds can be undone, and it asks before changing or removing a plan you made.
Current information, with sources
Some things change year to year: festivals and events on your dates, seasonal timing like blossoms or foliage, and closures. For those, Baz searches the web and lists the sources under its answer. If it couldn’t check something, it says so rather than guessing.
Start from your Wishlist
- Save with Baz turns a sentence into Wants on your Wishlist.
- Where should I go? suggests destinations that fit how you travel.
- Plan this with Baz turns a Want into a dated trip.
Plan this with Baz turns one Want into a dated trip, on every plan. The Wishlist-to-trip proposer on Gold, coming soon, will go further: it takes your whole Wishlist plus your dates and budget and suggests which places to combine and in what order.
What Baz knows about you
Baz keeps a short taste profile: how you like to travel, written from your own trips. You can read, edit, or reset it in Settings, under Baz.
Fast or Thorough
Fast is usually all you need. It finds places, fills gaps, builds trips, and saves ideas. Thorough, on Silver, takes more care with long or multi-city trips and uses about 2 to 6 times as much of your allowance, so switch to it when Fast’s answer misses the mark.
How much you get
Member includes about 6 trip builds or 35 place searches a month. Silver gives you five times as much (about 30 trip builds or 190 place searches a month), plus Thorough. Those numbers are typical for Fast. A longer ask, or Thorough, uses more.
Your allowance refreshes each plan month, and unused use doesn’t roll over. When it runs out, Baz waits until it refreshes or you upgrade. Everything else in Wendways keeps working. The plans are on the pricing page.
There’s a related search on every plan too. On Trips and Register, type a question like “trips where I flew from PEK” and Wendways turns it into filters. Plain-words search never counts toward your Baz allowance.
What happens to your data
Baz works differently from reading your bookings, so here’s the plain version.
- Reading your bookings uses AI providers with zero data retention: they keep no copy of the request.
- Baz and plain-words search use Anthropic’s models through the Wendways account, which is not zero data retention. Anthropic may keep requests for a limited time under its own terms, for example to check for abuse.
- So Wendways sends Baz trip details only: never traveler names, email addresses, phone numbers, booking references, ticket or seat numbers, notes, attachments, forwarded emails, or payment details.
- What you type to Baz is sent as written, so don’t type booking codes, passport numbers, or payment details into it.
- Web searches are built only from a place, dates, and a topic, never anything about the traveler.
- Baz conversations stay with your account until you delete your account.
Wendways never uses your content to train AI models, and never sells your data. There’s more on the privacy promise page.
What Baz doesn’t do
- It doesn’t book or pay for anything. You book with the airline, hotel, or operator. Wendways isn’t a travel agent.
- It isn’t perfect. Places, hours, closures, and dates it suggests can be wrong or out of date, so check anything important before you rely on it.
- It isn’t on phones yet. Baz is on the web on larger screens, like a laptop or tablet.
Everything else is on the Baz page.
